Drawing: FREE On-Site Centrifugation Process Analysis

Description:

Centrifugation can account for as much as 50% of the in-lab processing time of specimens and is key to cutting TAT.

The winner will be entitled to an on-site analysis and recommendations for improvement of their current centrifugation process. The analysis will be performed by Cathy Shea, an independent consultant and certified lean laboratory expert. Recommendations will be presented in a written report.

Over the past 8 years, Cathy Shea has participated in or led Lean projects in numerous hospital labs, outpatient collection centers and public health labs (including a BSL3 assignment).

Work includes Lean training for staff, reviewing and timing current state processes, proposing and running pilots and establishing Future State process maps.  Emphasis is on reducing waste from excess movement of staff or specimens, improving test result turn-around times, or streamlining a registration or accessioning process.  At times a staffing model may be run to understand how staff work hours impact productivity and or patient and physician satisfaction levels.

Each facility is unique in its needs and care is taken to understand how best to implement Lean methodologies within the organization.

  • This sweepstake is sponsored by Drucker Diagnostics (168 Bradford Drive, Port Matilda, PA 16870) as part of AACC 2015 activities. Entries must be made before the end of the AACC 2015 exhibition, either in writing at Drucker Diagnostics’ AACC booth or by filling the entry form on the website.
  • One prize will be awarded by random drawing July 28, 2015. The winner will be notified by email. Odds of winning cannot be determined in advance.
  • Only one entry per laboratory site will be accepted, whether digital or on paper.
  • No purchase is necessary.

Eligibility:

  • Only laboratories and their employees are eligible to win. Manufacturers, resellers and distributors of medical equipment and consultants are not eligible.
  • Only facilities in the U.S. and Canada are eligible for an on-site visit limited to 4 hours in duration. For facilities in other locations, the evaluation will be conducted remotely using any means agreeable to the consultant and the winner (email, teleconferencing, videos…).
